Sunset Park Solar is New York City’s first cooperatively-owned community solar project! Sunset Park Solar is a 685-kilowatt solar project that will be built on the Brooklyn Army Terminal rooftop. This is a community-led not-for-profit initiative, and our only purpose is to help the community transition to clean solar energy and away from dirty fossil fuel power plants that cause issues like asthma, and heart disease, and make our community more vulnerable to COVID-19. The solar panels will be installed on the roof of the Brooklyn Army Terminal (not your roof!) here in Sunset Park, so you don’t need to be a homeowner or have roof access and there are no out-of-pocket costs – just savings!
